Increase illumination to make up for lost daylight hours

Love it or loathe it, Autumn has arrived. We have all noticed the days getting shorter, nights seem longer and can feel the chilly onset of colder weather. At this time of the year days grow shorter by around 3 minutes per day and studies have shown that this progressive reduction in daylight affects mood and productivity. We should all try and spend some time outdoors but if you are office based during the day a walk on your lunch break might be your only opportunity to indulge in some natural daylight.

In the absence of natural light, you can illuminate your workspace with a desk lamp. The correct desk lamp can provide practical task lighting to help create your ideal working environment whilst easing eye strain and improving your concentration encouraging you to feel alert, creative, and energised.

It important to use a lamp that is adjustable so it’s easy to direct the light according to your needs and find your optimal position to reduce glare and reflections. You should be able to control the intensity of the light to suit your own individual requirements during the different phases of the day.
